Beth Basham founded the Youth Choir of Central Oregon in 1990. As an experienced public school music teacher for thirty years, she brings vision and an infectious enthusiasm for singing to the choir. Her choirs have achieved state, national and international recognition and acclaim. Beth Basham has served as an adjudicator and clinician at choral festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest. Beth received her BA in Music Performance and Education from California State University, Northridge. Her professional musical career has included membership in the Seattle Symphony Chorale, solo experience with the Cascade Chorale and Central Oregon Symphony and numerous musical theater productions in Seattle, Eugene and Central Oregon.
With 33 years of experience in music and classroom teaching, Ms. Podwils raises up our youngest singers. She is currently Director of Music at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Bend, teaching music and directing the middle and after school choirs. Ms. Podwils joined the Youth Choir of Central Oregon first as a member of the Board of Directors, then moving to the artistic staff to found the Singers’ School in 2003.
Debbi McMahon has been the accompanist for the Youth Choir of Central Oregon for ten years. She accompanies both the Premiere and Debut Choirs and has traveled with them to Greece, Hawaii and Indianapolis. Debbi has also been the pianist and music coordinator for the First United Methodist Church in Bend, Oregon. She is an experienced accompanist and vocalist who has directed her church choir and performed many vocal and piano solos throughout her musical career..
